An Iconic Landmark Open to Visitors

200 visitors / day

Africa Hall will have a new visitor’s centre that will welcome the public to learn about Africa's history, the African Union and the United Nations. The visitors center will include a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibits and a cinema room for screenings and public events.

Meeting Today's Statndards

360° upgrade

The renovation will offer a 360° upgrade: from updating conferencing equipment to complying with current fire hazard requirements and building codes. It includes accessibility for people with disabilities, lighting, waterproofing ceilings and restoring original furnishing.

Architectural and Artistic Heritage

150 Sq.m

Africa Hall is known to house emblematic pieces of African art such the 150-square meter stained glass window designed by world famous Maître Afework Tekle from Ethiopia. With the new visitors centre, this and other artworks will be more available to the public.

Finance and Partnership

$56.9 Million

ECA has been requested to explore additional funding sources to contribute to covering the project costs so an effort to secure additional contributions from donor is underway.

Inauguration of the Renovated Africa Hall

The Inauguration of Africa Hall is scheduled to take place at 3.30 p.m. on 21 October 2024, a landmark event celebrating the festive reopening of this historic building.
