There's consistant issues with raised black levels, poor EOTF tracking and not to mention the inconsistant performance from Netflix, Disney etc, DV grading is an afterthought for most of them.

Don't even get me started on DV Gaming. I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would even give DV2 a chance for years to come.

User #453063180 posts

Charlie25

Participant

https://whrl.pl/RgTpMd
herring|anchor|mark

Reply to this post

posted 2026-Jan-6, 10:46 am

replyherringmarkurl

https://whrl.pl/RgTpMd
posted 2026-Jan-6, 10:46 am

In light of everything from ces I'd say well done to anyone who took last week's deal on the G5 83. Won't matter much for movies, but if you're planning to play games on the TV then sustained peak brightness matters. It's also (very likely) 1 year panel warranty on the C6H vs 5 years on the G5/6.

Bit bummed I missed out on the 4.8k deal for the G577, had too many bills to pay at the time and couldn't pull the trigger, now I have lack of buying remorse

As Osir1s said, if the G4 clearance sale in 2025 was anything to go by, you'll likely see the G5 reach low $4k when the G6 start coming in. The question to ask yourself is whether you would regret not waiting. I was asking myself the same question the past two weeks and I think my answer is – yes, I'd regret.

What I'm most looking forward to is the Hyper Radiant Colour and the Premium ant-reflection coating techs for the Tandem 2.0 panel. We recently bought a white couch for our home theatre room and have been regretting it ever since :P

Don't buy the G6 77 at launch, by EOFY the G6 could reach $5-6k (again based on G5 prices during EOFY 2025).

User #92237384 posts

spirit level

Participant

https://whrl.pl/RgTWTT
herring|anchor|mark

Reply to this post

posted 2026-Feb-12, 10:49 am

replyherringmarkurl

https://whrl.pl/RgTWTT
posted 2026-Feb-12, 10:49 am

My C9 is still going strong, such a good panel for it's time.

Have LG OLEDs brought back DTS support yet?

User #410597 • 7164 posts

TeufelHund

Whirlpool Forums Addict

https://whrl.pl/RgTXK9
herring|anchor|mark

Reply to this post

posted 2026-Feb-13, 11:23 am

replyherringmarkurl

https://whrl.pl/RgTXK9
posted 2026-Feb-13, 11:23 am

spirit level writes...

Have LG OLEDs brought back DTS support yet?

No.

User #22160412965 posts

Rift2coast
Parallel32

Whirlpool Forums Addict

https://whrl.pl/RgT2I7
herring|anchor|mark

Reply to this post

posted 2026-Feb-20, 8:40 am

replyherringmarkurl

https://whrl.pl/RgT2I7
posted 2026-Feb-20, 8:40 am

they need to get the 97 onto the new tech
Also no DTS is a bummer.
