This is a website I made and I am soliciting feedback for it (which seems to be allowed under /wiki/wp_advertising).

Hi everyone,

I got another SMS the other night from Exetel telling me that my plan is increasing in cost. It's pretty frustrating paying more for something when there's no obvious benefit (what am I actually paying more for?).

So, I developed a website called Churno (https://churno.net). Basically the idea is that you can look for deals that are being offered by ISP's for churning to their service. If you do decide to switch, you can tell Churno that, and it will automatically email you when your bonus period is coming to an end, at which point, you can head back to Churno, choose another provider, and the cycle repeats. A calendar helps you understand when you should cancel so you're not stuck paying for half a month.

People can sign up and post new deals and benefits to those deals, and vote on existing offers as well. Long time benefits (like $/off monthly) benefits are shown, alongside once off benefits (i.e: Get $100 for switching with xyz website).

I'm mainly looking for feedback, so if you have any, let me know. I'm hoping this will help people to save money. There's no ads or monetisation.

Also, in the interests of being transparent, Churno was developed with the help of AI. Mainly Grok Build/Antigravity. I say "with the help of" because I am a software developer for work, and before I had kids and life got busy, I would have the time to write these things from scratch. Now, unfortunately, I don't. But I do have time to sit on the couch when everyone else has gone to bed and do quality checks etc to ensure that things work more-or-less as intended, before I pass out myself. Seriously, toddlers, where do they get their energy from?

Very nice fast, clean, clear design. There are a couple of menu items I don't understand. They are theme and system.

I haven't dug deep but I presume this is a PWA.

I'm not sure that I appreciate seeing offers that have expired. It just seems to add clutter.

But all in all, it's smart and impressive.

I can't help noticing though that there is another site churno.co.

It offers a service for analysing customer behaviour to identify the incidence of churning so that companies can address the underlying issues.

Coincidence?

Great concept and overall layout but sound some of the pricing out of whack.
I was looking at internet pricing for 500+

I assume the first line refers to the bonus or saving, and the second is middle row shows the actual plan price per month?
iiNet is showing a 9.99 p/mth plan for 1000/50 (on a 24 mth deal – shuddup and take my money already !!)
Superloop reflects 36,67 p/mth for 1000/50
Aussie BB Reflects 50 p/mth for 1000/50 (With a 3 mth promo period….not 6mths)

Some great deals here indeed if they were legit but ISP pages suggest not!

The visual noise that expired offers add is appreciated. I'll probably hide them by default.

And no, churno.co isn't related. It's almost hard to believe that it's not. I called my site "churno" because I thought it was vaguely similar to a churro, the spanish doughnut. I was going to theme after that but I got distracted, maybe in the future.

It's hard to normalise the data in a consistent way, I didn't fully appreciate just how hard it would be. For example, some providers have monthly rates, others have an up-front cost, and then want to give you other types of bonuses as well (flybuys etc). All of these corner cases makes the scraper choke.

I've tried to tune it up... feel free to take another look if you want.

I really like what you've put together and am curious to see it develop further!

Maybe I missed it, but I couldn't see how to specify when my current plan (which is on the promo introductory period ) started from... like I'm a couple months into my Superloop plan already, but I couldn't see a way to flag when that's due to end.

I'd like to make use of the Plan Your Churn feature on the deal pages, but it suggests I need to take action around January 2027 when I know it's closer to November 2026 that I have to forewarn Superloop I'll be cancelling

Thanks @Jokc, I'm going to add a provider page so people can say (if they know) what the cancellation for a provider is (and if they do pro-rata refunds).

That other idea about people being able to list when the signed up to their current provider is also a good idea.

Great stuff, I just used it to find my next churning RSP and placed the order.

One thing that matters to me, and will be good for you to include is a filter for RSP who doesn't use CGNAT or Can opt out for free. As this is a non-negotiable criteria for me in choose an RSP.

That is a bit of a blinkered outlook. Petrol has increased in price without any obvious benefit – the same can be said for electricity, so it is pointless saying that.

Prices for all services and good are always going up.

It's true, and I'm getting shish-kabob'd by the cost of living (as is everyone I guess). I should be more engaged on what specials internet providers are offering. Churno gives me a way to do that.

To put it another way, Coles might have chicken kievs for $2/each. Woolies might have them that week for $1/each. Depending on where I'm going, I'm paying less for the same product. That's the kind of logic that I'm applying to Churno, I'd like to take advantage of the introductory period to minimise how much I pay for internet/mobile.

There are points of argument in that, someone could say, internet providers aren't the same, one has a better backend, one has lower ping in games. And they would be right – it's just that at this point in my life I don't really care about that as much as I once did. I just want to give away minimal $ for services.

I was going to say that OzBargain is already great for finding good deals and what does Churno do.....just links to OzBargain deals.

So basically you wasted your time making a website that already exists.

Not entirely correct, I wasted my time:

1. Finding the deals that had churn benefits
2. Putting them on the website
3. Letting people get automated reminders that their intro deal is about to expire, and that it's time to churn, and advising on the best time to do that so they don't get billed a whole extra cycle

Take me for example. My Extel internet sub is going to be $95 this month. That's crazy money. I've got a reminder set a day or two before on a deal on Churno that has a good intro price. I keep forgetting to churn and I pay the price for it.

The same goes for mobile. I'm with Felix. They're jacking the price up over time for no obvious reason. Again, reminder set, I'll jump to another eSIM compatible provider to get cheaper deals.

OzBargain is a general purpose deals website. Churno is a purpose-built thing for churning deals, with the intent that it's easier to jump from deal to deal to save money without running your own spreadsheet or setting your own reminders that you can miss.

Sometimes the deal page on the companies page can be confusing or the discount is not clear. So linking to OzBargain shows what is worth getting excited about and then you can navigate to the seller page itself.

I think you have achieved that.

But I'm not sure it has a long future.

Today you used AI to help build it. Tomorrow we will all be briefing AI agents to scour the web for offers that fit our requirements. There will be even less friction to churning. Maybe these kinds of offers will disappear.

There's no ads or monetisation.

So your motivations are elswhere.

As an experience I'm sure its not wasted effort by any means. Its a good example of how clean and fast a website should be.

Which is exactly what Ozbargain already does, you appear to be an extra layer on top.

If Ozbargain goes down for a week or disappears completely does Churno stop updating?

@andrew it's certainly very possible. But I can't and shouldn't do or not do things in the future because AI will be able to do it in the future.

My motivations are, I guess, well to build something useful for starters, to see how good the models are and whether they can achieve something like this. And to get it hosted and see if other people find value in it.

Depending on how things work out in the future, I don't know, in the very long term there may be monetization opportunities but for now I just want to save money on monthly subscriptions.
