Hi Guys

Moved my parents who were looking to save some money in these tough financial times from there $96/month legacy iinet nbn plan (was upgraded to 500/50) automatically to a deal with Dodo. I know that Dodo are not super premium at whatever but I believe its wholesale vocus bandwidth and tbh, every nbn provider is decent its all the same hardware FTTN here, and wholesale bandwidth is pretty cheap everywhere. Read can turn off CG-NAT through there app once connected How bad can it be

Deal is 500/50Mbps with CG-NAT (that can be turned off) for $92 a month, less $30 a month for 6 months plus $120 cashback from topcashback (my parents use topcashback alot) – so with the $30 off for 6 months from Dodo, and essentially $20/month value is cashback for the same 6 months period – they could essentially halve there nbn bill.

They are pretty basic internet users. Local streaming, social media, nothing to fancy.

Doing some speed tests to Telstra in Melbourne, am only hitting 30-40Mbps at 10AM on a Friday morning. when i do a US based speed test getting less than 10Mbps – using speedtest.net as this.

Are other Dodo users in VIC getting this same service? I actually dont believe its so crap.

What are other Dodo users getting speed wise? What are your experiences?

That speed is not FTTN. if you are FTTN the max download you will get is 100.

Personally I find it good. I haven't had any issues at all, however im in QLD.

As mentioned above this is limited to 100mbps (providing the copper line can actually do this) unless you meant to say FTTP

For 12 months it works out to be $67 per month and you can reassess after 12 months. Can't beat this price.

Don't think you can turn off CGNAT on Dodo.

Local streaming and basic internet use is fine. 500mbps seems like overkill though

Yeah you can as I only just did it within the last month. They push back on it and third degree you as to why you need it off but they eventually do it.

yeah apoligies its FTTP

was hitting 450/40 on iinet previously

Kinda weird. I agree the price is unbeatable. was a decision between Dodo and also Optarse, who are offeirng $79 per month for 12 months 500/50 and $170 cashback on ShopBack.

will churn them again in 6 months after the so called honeymoon ends with dodo

Its interesting that NBN prices keep creeping

They're happy to keep paying for 30Mbps for 6 months? Plenty of other cheap providers with honeymoon deals it would take 15 minutes to switch to.

This indicates a fault and has nothing to do with service or price. While Dodo are the only RSP I actually say don't use they do still hit 90% of advertised speed 24/7 (like every other RSP). So if you're getting 30Mbps on a 100 or 500 Mbps plan then something is wrong and should be easy to fix.

The first check is that you do speed tests on a fixed line and not wifi to rule out your wifi.
If the issue persists just contact Dodo and request they check the line speed. They can do that remotely and confirm the issue is on their end. They'll either sort it or raise it to NBNCo to sort.

Its interesting that NBN prices keep creeping

Its a common misconception that electronics are getting more expensive when in fact they are one of the few commodities that have steadily decreased in price for decades. It used to be that $80 in 2000 ($150 in today's money) got you a premium HFC speed of 100Mbps. Now for less than $100 (in today's money) you can get 1000 Mbps.

Regional Victoria here and I get 550Mbps most times of the day and still around 500Mbps at night.

Something is up.

just seamed to be for the first couple of days.

hard reset the iinet modem that they had, and now getting max speeds which is good. 450+ down and 30-40+ up.

also dont seem to be on CG-NAT as whatsmyip shows a real IP address. rebooting the modem the address changes, so its def not CGNAT

pretty happy all in all, cheap. $92 a month $30 off for the first 6 months reducing it to $62 per month and $120 cashback from topcashback in 120 days, which bring actual cost down to $42 per month.

thats pretty cheap, and just churn again in another 6 months to someone (like amaysim) offering a 6 month discount and topcashback or shopback

NBN is pretty expensive these days. not much change from the big providers on $100/month. fees to pay via credit card.
