Yeah it’s good.

The X1 has never been for me but I really appreciate the level of tech and innovation BmW dedicate to their entry level models. Smart move.

Hopefully not too hampered with the current shortages and shipping issues.

I am glad the designer of the iX was fired --- jokes aside

This iX1 grille is finally getting back to a common-sense size.
I have watched a few videos and it's gorgeous and high tech.
It should copy some features from the iX such as the screen, the central console is 10.

We should expect it in the first quarter of 2023 (January to March).
With the 5% tax removed from European EVs, I hope the price is attractive.

Its starting price point seems to be £43,000 ( AUD74,460 ) so Polestar2, Ioniq5, EV6, Volvo and Audi e-Tron market.
Audi tho has no option below $110k so we might have a bad surprise once the iX1 Australia market price is revealed :(

I think this is finally the EV I’m looking for. Think I’ll put down a deposit whenever I can and think through the decision later haha!

Bet the ix1 will be fantastic

Same, I first was after Ioniq5 but it's easier to adopt a living dinosaur than buy one.
Then Polestar2, I test drove one, 10/10 but I'm more a SUV type of guy so I've been holding a bit.
iX1 is a small SUV but with plenty of space for me (1.88).

The X1 with the MSport package and extended shadow line looks great… also because of its boxy shape the actual boot capacity is very usable and at 540L actually compares to many others in the SUV segment above.

With all going on in the world I am fully expecting equipment cuts from the original spec sheet… My biggest concern would be losing Driving Assistant Pro. For me it’s a non negotiable feature and you still can’t even order a new X3 to be spec’d with it below a X340i.

$80k seems the likeliest.

Australia will probably have a whole of 10 allocated for the first year anyway. Even if it were cheaper I doubt they could supply.

I’m guessing we aren’t the target market.

Genuine question: What Tesla has so special??

Fast charging network? At least in the US, it has proven to don't be that fast and as reliable.

Autopilot so drivers in Australia can get even worse overall letting the car drives itself rather than use it to reduce fatigue during long trips?

0-100 in 5.10s??

It is a genuine question because I never understand the logic.

Tesla owners that have it working, it is "great" but for the ones with problems, things get bloody asf.
OTA update is a hit and miss, the UI changes from time to time and owners need to re-learn where things are.
I have watched I believe all of his videos – https://www.youtube.com/c/WhamBaamTeslacam – any accident is easy $20-60k and takes months to receive parts, sometimes a year to sort out the costs.

Autopilot here seems to cost around AUD$10k, the last info I have about it is that if you sell the car with it, it is removed from the car so the new owner has to buy the Autopilot pack. I am guessing it is transferred to your new Tesla free of charge. No idea what happens if you don't wanna another Tesla, $10k credits? I have no idea.

Genuine question: What Tesla has so special??

I see, like Polestar2 then, get in and drive. I am still old-style on that all centralized on the screen thing, Polestar2 felt great with physical buttons. I test drove it. This BWM looks gorgeous with physical buttons.

There is where I saw the owner in hot water after selling his Tesla. The new owner when registering the car got the FSD removed.

Correct. I quite like the Polestar 2 cabin as well – it's a bit busier compared to the Model 3 but its still a great car. I sat in the iX3 the other day and thought 'gee, this is just an ICE' – has a big transmission stick, lots of buttons etc. Which is what brought me to this thread – the iX1 interior is remarkably better. Cleaner, less buttons, no huge transmission stick.

That is a personal taste I guess

Pretty much this. I never thought i would 'love' a Tesla interior, i thought i would just get use to it. But after owning it, i actually love the 'simplicity' of the look and the function that everything is done in one place. I drove a RAV4 Hybrid rental car when i was on business a few weeks ago and looking around left and right to function the car, to me, felt quite confusing and full of friction.
