Announced by Microsoft and Halo Studios. Halo Campaign Evolved is coming sometime 2026 across Xbox Series consoles, Gamepass Ultimate, PC, and PS5. It is a remake of Halo Combat Evolved with added extras thrown in.

"Experience the original story rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics, and refined controls, plus three brand-new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. A broader arsenal of weapons, vehicles, enemies, and gameplay-modifying “Skulls” – optional modifiers that change combat in fun and challenging ways – add fresh tactics and endless replayability."

One of the best shooters ever invented, AFAIC. Still have my original Xbox copy somewhere (how sad is that.....). I still do repeat play-throughs but now using the Master Chief collection.

Probably won't bother with this tart up unless the additional campaigns are something extra special based on reviews. Going on the price of recent releases they'll want way too much for it anyway so I'll probably wait until it's available as a bargain bin special, regardless.

I have less than zero interest in multiplayer so that's fine with me. I'm sure they're working on it though.

Day one purchase for me although it just feels sad and surreal that I’ll be playing halo on PS. But for anyone who has never played halo, I’m excited for you to do so. Truly some of my best gaming memories.

I’ll play it… again. For the 10th time. Legendary run straight up ofc. Looks nice n all.

But by the sounds of it it’s literally a remake, not a reimagining. Sooo mcc 2? Lol

I guess this has happened out of desperation since the only good thing halo has done since becoming 343/halo studios is MCC… the new halo infinite multiplayer was good but they couldn’t support it with their own engine.
and it takes a long time to make the new halo.

I also guess this a UE engine test for the market

Sooo
- AR only has 32 rounds not 60.
- Zoom is available on every weapon as opposed to just a few while the rest use a zoomed visor.
- New weapon sounds which I'm kinda not sure on
- Why the hell is sprint a thing when it wasn't in the OG trilogy? Sprint doesn't have to be a mandatory feature. Least it seems it can be turned off.
- No health packs.
- It's UE5, an engine known for a massive amount of Devs not optimising their game.

Really not sure on this 2nd remake tbh.

I'm down for it. I played the shit out of the campaign and MP on the Mac nearly 15 years ago. Very satisfying gameplay.

Some quick observations:
- New graphics look good, although there are the telltale signs of UE5 stutter. Hopefully my PC can handle it! This looks much better than Anniversary. I played the first three levels and gave up because the updated graphics looked garish.
- Not sure what to think about the smaller clip size for the AR. Maybe it quickens gameplay.
- Don't know why they re-recorded Cortana and Chief's dialogue but not secondary characters like Keys, Echo 419 and the UNSC grunts. Perhaps they've tweaked the script?
- Don't know if they've kept the old graphics switch like in Halo CE: Anniversary. Would like some clarification there.
- Great to see the Devs have removed the tree stopping players driving the Warthog in the island's interior in Silent Cartographer. Persistent players had to angle the hog just right for it to squeeze through the narrow gap to gain access.

And speaking of barriers, I used to drive the hog down into the underground tunnels and jam the door before it closes just so I could skip an entire section of the level. Sometimes the hog jammed in the door would kill the Gold Elite when it spawns at a certain point too.

Anyway, count me in for Halo: CE 2026. Can't come quick enough!

Halo on PlayStation. Never thought I would see the day.

Ok, it looks like I missed one of the best shooters ever. I didnt like shooters back in the days, but I started to appreciate it in recent days and did a cod marathon run earlier this year.

Will do a marathon run on the halo series when this releases.

Out of all the concerns I listed the 2 biggest ones i have are that its UE5 and the no health packs thing. The shield mechanic was for 2 and 3 then health also came back for reach. If you want somewhat of the OG experience I think health packs especially are a must.

Fingers crossed they don't stuff up the optimisation with UE5. We know it's possible but few Devs have gotten their heads around it.

Dual stick wise 100%. I think on N64 Perfect Dark and Goldeneye weren't bad IF you adjusted the control scheme to move with the C buttons instead of the stick (of course D-pad was still not used which was funny)

And im getting tired of the play fast mentality of regenerative health. It should be in the game to a degree but it shouldn't be the main health system. Halo 1 did it right. I say that as someone who likes fast past shooters like doom and such. I miss the ability to manage resources in an FPS game at times :)
Anyway that's our 2 differing opinions

There are health packs in Doom. But you mostly regenerate from the killing demons who drop health. Health packs in Doom are mainly for larger boss fights, where there are less kills.

So yes, health packs are de-emphasised in modern Doom games, but having been removed entirely.
