O.P.

I need to install the driver for a Fuji Xerox printer. The information from Fuji is that this printer "has reached end of service, and thus will no longer be supported by FUJIFILM Business Innovation." I notice that the driver is apparently available from various driver sites. How safe is it to use these sites?

old driver or last driver with incorrect o/s details ...

if you have the win7 driver you will need to manually install for win 10 or win 11 ...that's if updates fails to install a suitable driver to install ...

In general I have found them worse than useless as you often need to install their "special" software to get the driver or the driver package itself installs some nasty advertising or auto driver update crap. Best avoided.
There is one utility I have used in the past that works well and is clean. SDIO

It does not install just runs from where you extracted it and checks various sources for drivers. When you first run it select "download indexes only" then you can select which particular drivers you want to install.
Do you have the model of the FX printer?
Tried connecting the printer and see if Windows can find the drivers by itself?

Which model printer and what version of windows are you trying to install it on?

I would never visit these sites to download a printer driver. You mention that the printer is no longer support by FUJIFILM but it shouldn't mean you can't download the driver from an actual Xerox site. Depending on where "The information from Fuji " came from they could just be trying to sell you a new printer.

Nope FujiFilm are right bastards when it comes to this. EG We had an old Fuji Xerox Docuprint C3290 and when I went to get the drivers for it I found this lovely little disclaimer
Your selected product has reached end of service, and thus will no longer be supported by FUJIFILM Business Innovation.
To get more information on your product please click on [Chat with Us!] at the bottom to contact our Support Centre.

Bastards.
Ended up I actually found the drivers in a folder on our server.

Put the disk in a computer with a cd/dvd drive and copy the contents to a USB stick. Put the stick in the problem computer and run the driver installer.
Again what model of printer is it?

I have two Fuji Xerox (still supprted). CP215W and a M265W. Both are bulletproof, never ever paper jam and their driver packages are far smaller than Brother/HP/Epson.

Shame about the P205B driver issue but this is a timely reminder to ensure driver packages are retained.

The P205B is not able to use a universal WIndows driver?

eg. Manually select from Fuji Xerox for PCL6 driver (included with Win10/11).

edit: also try choosing MICROSOFT as printer and try the PS or PCL6 Class drivers.

at least you have the drivers (albeit could be ancient). As noted already, copy to USB once you can access the CD.

It may set up OK under Windows or you may have to manually point to the relevant folder for drivers if doing a manual install.

Ask a friend to create a iso image for you or if you can't if you send me the driver details I'll see what I have and create a iso image fore you and send you the link in gdrive it won't be too big as they are normally small from my knowledge... hope this helps

Just copy all the files to disk storage or USB . There's no magical hidden boot partitions to deal with.
