Visitor Programs















Our Visitor Program is thriving, and all we need is you! Many of our esteemed staff were once visitors themselves. Each year, we host a variety of visitors ranging from students to university faculty, to researchers from all over the world. The networks and relationships broadened by this initiative have proven invaluable to the excellent work we can do. The Visitor Program is the lifeblood of our organization.

As part of our core values we encourage and support collaboration with colleagues within the U.S. and abroad. To further those interactions, we offer a variety of opportunities to visit RAL and work with our staff.  Take a look at our programs, and get in touch with us! Here's how it's done. Visitors are responsible for identifying and cultivating a relationship with a host on our staff to sponsor their visit.  The host will submit the paperwork, which is required even for a 1-day visit, to coordinate with all of the entities involved. The visitor host agrees to collaborate, schedule appointments or seminars, be a mentor, or direct the research or project involved.










Developmental Testbed Center (DTC) Visitor Program



The DTC Visitor Program supports visitors to work with the DTC to test new forecasting and verification techniques, models and model components for numerical weather prediction (NWP)









NCAR’s Advanced Study Program (ASP)



Promoting advanced scientific educational opportunities at NCAR.









Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS)



An undergraduate-to-graduate bridge program designed to broaden participation of historically underrepresented communities in the atmospheric and related sciences.
