Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

I am on 22H2 using a Windows 10 Pro Desktop PC and I live in Victoria, Melbourne. It is the 13th of September 2025 at the time of this message, and updates for Windows 10, in about 1 month from now, will end forever in October 2025.

I have just updated my Desktop PC via Windows Update, and I am getting worried because I do not see any options or Wizard, within Windows Update, to enroll in the ESU Program to extend updates for Windows 10 up until October 2026.

I am logged in with my default Administrator Microsoft Account and logged in to OneDrive as well. I also have everything in 'Settings > Windows Backup' enabled too. So everything from 'Remember my Apps' to 'Remember My Preferences' are enabled.

Has anybody else on Windows 10, been able to enroll their Desktop or Laptop PC in the ESU Program? What can I do to try force my system to provide the option/wizard to allow me to enroll in the ESU Program?

My System is eligible to upgrade to Windows 11, but I want to stay on Windows 10 for as long as possible.

I was not going to enroll, but I did start the wizard on one, and it said I wasnt old enough. However I was never going to actually enroll so I did not worry about it. It may be I needed to log on our Office365 account – this computer had a local login, being a POS machine.

None of these three computers were eligible for W11 – if that makes a difference?

I have heard about the method to "buy" the 1-year ESU for $30, although I'm not sure how to buy the 1-year ESU so that it applies to my system, but in any case what I was talking about in the OP was the "free" 1-year ESU enrollment that got announced by Microsoft for all Windows 10 users pending they had enough Microsoft Reward points, or if they were signed in to a Microsoft account.

I was told that regardless on wheather or not the PC was Windows 11 ready or not, didn't make a difference, that everyone on Windows 10 Home and Pro, would at least get the option to enroll to the free 1-year ESU program.

Someone created a script that enrolls your Windows 10 into ESU regardless whether you received an invitation or not. I just tried it and it worked fine. (Use at your own risk)

Thank you! I also hadn't gotten the ESU offer. I ran this script and it said I was now enrolled, but I don't see anything under "Updates" in Settings to confirm?

At the bottom of the "Windows Update" settings page, there should be a message saying: "Your PC is enrolled to get Extended Security Updates".

Mine doesn't show that. I think it's because I don't have a TPM chip, but some people on Reddit say that doesn't matter.

Have a look at your Windows Registry via "regedit".

Look at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\ConsumerESU

ESUEligibility should be set to "3" which means "Device Enrolled" and ESUEligibilityResult should be set to "1" which means "Success".

I too wasn't seeing the updates but what worked for me was to turn on: Get the latest updates as soon as they're available. I just did this for a laptop and another PC which doesn't meet the requirements for WIN11 whilst logged on to my Windows account. I have also tried on a PC that does meet the requirements which uses a different Windows account and its now showing the Enroll now option. All were No extra cost!

That's odd as I've rebooted many times today and every time it’s still showing as enrolled.

BTW I did get the enrol now option from Microsoft and then got the options on which way I wanted to enrol and as i am already backed up it was a free option.

Then I received the “your now enrolled until October 2026 message”

I'm not sure why you say its only a registry edit that only tells the registry as I did get the option to actually enrol via the correct way.

On a side note... once I followed the instructions I mentioned from the YouTube link, the process was identical to another PC on the network that did get the enroll option directly from Microsoft.....

It worked for me so I’m not sure what your comment is about.

What I'm saying is, I've got 2 W10 PC's that had both received the invitation to enroll, that was not the issue, neither are backed up to the cloud, I can edit the registry to report via the windows update that they are indeed enrolled.

However, this method doesn't stick and reverts back to the invitation mode after a reboot or 2. If you don't want to be the product yourself or not participate in their qualifying options, forget this regedit method.

My thinking is its linked to your Microsoft account you use to Enroll for the Free method. For example on one of the PCs I mentioned it worked, my Plex Server, if I logon with my Plex user account (not Microsoft linked) it is still shows the Enroll option and that the PC is not enrolled. Then if I logon with the Microsoft linked account it shows it is enrolled.

That sounds feasible, these 2 PC's aren't used as daily drivers and are not important, a HTPC and an older HP AMD laptop for tinkering. Neither have ever been linked to a MS account, I'll try linking the laptop and report back.

I finally got the ESU offer on one my PC's at no extra cost as I had windows settings backed up.
Just waiting for on a couple of others now and dont want to put 11 on them untill I absolutly have to.

I will probably need to update my work laptop though, really dont want windows 11, it feels quite a bit slower than 10 on everything I have tried it on.

I used my posted method and optioned for his first method (Quick Method) that is described in his video and on his webpage tutorial.

It has worked 100% for me and still shows me as enrolled since I followed his instructions.

For me I think this worked because at some stage I may have turned off [Disabled] the (make sure “Connected User Experiences and Telemetry” (DiagTrack) service is not disabled).

I may have at some stage (back in the day) used one of the apps that would Disable or stop any telemetry on my PC but for the ESU to show up it needs to be turned back ON or it will not show up.....

Once I did his (Quick Method) option and followed his instructions I received the option to enroll the official way and I went through all the options with my account and was able to get it for free as I also had it backing up to the MS cloud...

So that worked for me.... give it a shot....

Just enrolled, just had to sign into One drive for the enroll to show up in windows updates.
Then followed the enroll process.
Plenty of YouTube videos showing how to do this.
