Accessibility to ICTs: Achieving Equitable Communications for Everyone
15 per cent of the world’s population lives with a disability. This represents about 1 billion people globally. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), such as mobile phones, satellites or the Internet, are a unique infrastructure that expand access to key public services, promoting digital inclusion. Throughout the world, persons living with disabilities are already benefitting from the advantages of ICT-enabled applications.

Digital Divide
Connect the World
Connect the World aims to mobilize human, financial and technical resources for the implementation of the connectivity targets of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) and the Regional Initiatives adopted by Member States at the ITU World Telecommunication Development Conference. ITU and partners are organizing a series of regional Summits to mobilize resources and forge partnerships.

Digital financial inclusion and digital currency
Some 1.4 billion people remain without access to financial services. Digital financial inclusion is a critical enabler for poverty reduction and inclusive growth. ITU offers platforms to study cybersecurity challenges for digital finance, the quality of service provided by mobile networks for digital finance, and innovations and regulatory challenges brought about by fintech, digital currencies, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.

SMEs make up more than 95% of all businesses worldwide, and represent a path out of poverty for many developing countries.”

Gateways to Public Digital Learning
Building the digital foundations for public digital learning platforms
