Founding Authority

Renmin University of China (RUC) holds a pioneering and foundational position in the development of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) in modern China.



RUC was the founding institution for modern Chinese scholarship in core fields including Economics, Law, Theory of Marxism, and Journalism.



The university cultivated the first PhD in Law, Journalism, and the first international student PhD in HSS in the People's Republic of China.



Academic Influence

RUC is home to over a thousand HSS faculty members and numerous distinguished scholars, consistently producing high-level research.



In China's national discipline evaluations by the Ministry of Education, over a dozen RUC disciplines-including Economics, Law, Sociology, Statistics, Business Administration, and Public Administration-are consistently ranked in the nation's top tier.



RUC serves as a primary incubator for intellectual theories and policy solutions shaping China's contemporary development.



National Governance

RUC's scholarship directly informs national decision-making, offering an optimal platform for the international community to understand China's development.



RUC experts are deeply engaged in drafting and consulting on landmark national legislation, including the Constitution and the Civil Code.



Institutions like the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies (RDCY), a globally influential think tank, actively leverage the University's expertise to inform national governance and policymaking.
