RUC and global partners launch seven overseas research centers for civilizational exchange


Renmin University of China (RUC), together with ten partner institutions, has established seven overseas Research Centers for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations, including the China–Greece, China–France, China–Hungary, China–Africa, China–Spain, China–Brazil and China–Portugal centers.

China–Greece Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations

On February 20, 2023, the center was inaugurated in Athens, the capital of Greece. It was jointly established by RUC, Southwest University, Shandong University and Sichuan University, together with the University of Athens, University of Patras, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Crete.









China–Portugal Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations

In April 2026, the China-Portugal Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations was jointly established by Renmin University of China (RUC) and the University of Coimbra.









China–Brazil Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations

Bringing together the traditional strengths and emerging disciplines of the four universities, the center builds a robust network for academic cooperation, fosters knowledge innovation and resource sharing and creates new platforms, strategic spaces and signature programs for youth exchange, educational collaboration, cultural dialogue and mutual learning between China and Brazil. It also serves as a model for higher education cooperation among Global South countries.









China–Spain Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations

Guided by the vision of "promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and advancing human progress," the center is committed to safeguarding cultural diversity, promoting shared human values, fostering cultural inheritance and innovation and strengthening international people-to-people exchanges in education and culture.









China–Africa Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations

The center aims to advance the shared vision of deepening China–Africa cooperation, create new impetus for higher education collaboration and cultural exchange and contribute to the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Africa, as well as to the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.









China–Hungary Research Center for Exchanges and Mutual Learning among Civilizations

On June 10, 2024, the inaugural International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, RUC and Eotvos Lorand University established the center in Budapest.
