Having said that though, eating food that's inherently energy dense is way more fun as others have mentioned and will save you plenty versus a mass gainer. Milk is cheap and full of all the things a growing boy needs...

Getting into a Woolworths or Coles later in the evening is also a great way to source cheap flour based products including breads and pastries. Lollies and chocolate is very cheap if you're willing to buy generic brands that belong to the supermarket also (Aldi and NQR also sell very cheap confectionary and dairy products on most days).

User #1987815489 posts

Trittium

Whirlpool Forums Addict

https://whrl.pl/Rexb89
herring|anchor|mark

Reply to this post

posted 2016-Jan-21, 1:36 pm

replyherringmarkurl

https://whrl.pl/Rexb89
posted 2016-Jan-21, 1:36 pm

Versatility writes...

What are people's opinions on 'mass gainers'? Protein will make you less likely to overeat excessively but having said that carbohydrates will (like protein) assist in recovery and glycogen replenishment (which protein won't do).

Carbohydrates can be your best friend if you're lifting weights but at the same time it really comes down to the amount of food you want to overeat on in general. A more minor surplus will likely lead to good muscle gain without too much fat storage but excess anything can (and often will) be stored as fat (and that includes protein it's just that itself and carbohydrates are less likely too versus dietary fat).

Mind you, protein intake doesn't have to be enormous either but still keeping it relatively high is a good idea for muscle protein synthesis and fullness in conjunction with a mix of fats and carbohydrates.

Killabees writes...

I'm worried the extra carbs in it will be stored as fat.

As above, extra anything will be stored as fat so just be mindful in that regard. Carbohydrates keep some people fuller for longer (generally not the processed/refined stuff) and others do better with lower relative carbohydrates and higher fat intakes (while keeping protein high(er). However, if you don't overconsume carbohydrates too much this option is better for two reasons and one is minimising fat gain and the other is restoring muscle glycogen which essentially leads to greater lifts with regards to volume, progression on the barbell or both.
…(内容过长已截断)

------
导航页 打开网址
</card></wml>
