Participating Entities






The UN JPO Programme at the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA)/ Capacity Development Programme Management Office recruits and administers JPOs for the UN Secretariat (all UN departments and offices) and its entities.

How To Apply




The JPO programme is open to applicants from participating countries. Candidates from developing countries may apply for positions in the framework of the Dutch, Belgian and Italian JPO Programme.

Facts And Figures




As of July 2026, the UN JPO Programme @DESA is managing and supporting the assignments of 352 Junior Professional Officers (JPOs) 

from 29 donor countries and from 34 different nationalities

35.8% male and 64.2% female

assigned to more than 49 duty stations around the world

working for more than 47 different UN Departments/Offices including Regional Commissions, Peacekeeping Missions and Resident Coordinator Offices
