In April 2012, UNFPA endorsed the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), a voluntary, multi-stakeholder initiative that seeks to improve the transparency of aid, development and humanitarian resources.

UNFPA has been entrusted by its stakeholders to deliver on agreed outcomes and results. The more that stakeholders – including donors, Member States and partners – can see and understand how development funds are used, the greater the chance that these limited resources will be used effectively.

UNFPA is committed to producing and delivering sustainable transparency. This includes developing solutions to address gaps in existing systems and addressing existing policies, operational guidance, accountability norms, and support and services related to aspects of our work, such as finance, budgets, procurement, administration and management information.

In order to allow for traceability throughout the delivery chain, UNFPA encourages partners to publish information related to development activities to the IATI registry, with reference to our corresponding IATI identification numbers.
