Heat Builds in the West; Extremely Critical Fire Weather in the Northwest

A heat wave over the Southwest will intensify this week, peaking and expanding into the Intermountain West and northern High Plains this weekend. A Heat Advisory has been issued for Mineral, Churchill, Pershing, and southern Lyon counties from 12 noon Friday until 8 AM Sunday, due to hot daytime highs and warm overnight lows bringing limited relief at night, especially along US-95 in Mineral County. Take precautions in the heat, check on neighbors, and always look for children and pets before you lock any vehicle.
