With the mission of leveraging meteorological science to harness favourable conditions, mitigate hazards and support the development of beautiful and harmonious rural areas, the campaign delivers tailored services to three priority groups: local officials, farmers and young students.<br/><br/><br/><br/>To date, the campaign has covered 1,539 cities and urban districts, 6,183 counties and 14,130 villages nationwide. It has delivered 18,510 science outreach events, conducted 6,536 campus visits and hosted 7,742 specialized science lectures. Over 30,200 meteorological specialists and technical staff have participated in on？site services, reaching a total beneficiary population exceeding 37.94 million people.<br/><br/><br/><br/>This initiative consolidates meteorological outreach resources nationwide and scales up the production and dissemination of authoritative, accessible materials. It promotes public understanding of advanced meteorological science and technology, strengthens national disaster risk reduction and supports rural revitalization.<br/><br/><br/><br/>1. Building Capacity of Local Officials for Risk？Informed Governance<br/><br/><br/><br/>Local meteorological authorities offer mixed online？offline training on disaster risk reduction for flood control staff, township civil servants and village meteorological focal points. Standard outreach materials, including the Handbook on Meteorological Disaster Risk Reduction for Leading Officials, are widely distributed to provide officials with evidence？based knowledge of severe weather, strengthen accountability for climate risk management and enable science？based decision？making at all levels.<br/><br/><br/><br/>In 2026, 100 demonstration training sessions have been rolled out nationwide to strengthen officials' ability to harness favourable climate conditions and mitigate hazards. Each session is tailored to regional hazard profiles and local industry needs, drawing on national？level expertise. Meteorological authorities cooperate with local governments to incorporate this training into official civil service education programmes.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Flagship events have taken place in Miyun (Beijing), Pu'er (Yunnan), Chengde (Hebei), Dingxi (Gansu) and other regions. Senior experts from the National Meteorological Center, the National Climate Center and the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences delivered keynote sessions on extreme weather response and climate？enabled industrial development, with over 5,000 online and offline participants. These sessions have enhanced local officials' capacity for science？based risk avoidance, targeted decision？making and frontline defence against climate？related disasters.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Meteorological expert delivers lectures on extreme weather disaster mitigation for grassroots officials in Chengde, Hebei Province.<br/><br/><br/><br/>A meteorological expert is invited to the &quot;Pu'er Official Lecture Hall&quot; for special training on risk management capacity building among leading officials.<br/><br/><br/><br/>The China Meteorological Administration and Gansu Meteorological Service presented meteorological science popularization books and outreach products to grassroots leading cadres, enterprise representatives and agricultural growers in Weiyuan County.<br/><br/><br/><br/>2. Climate Science Outreach for Agricultural &amp; Rural Sustainable Development<br/><br/>The campaign delivers three interconnected lines of meteorological support to rural production systems:<br/><br/>1)First, with food security as the central priority, timely disseminate to the public knowledge on meteorological disaster prevention and mitigation and relevant scientific and technological achievements, and facilitate their operational application.<br/><br/>2)Second, leveraging the professional expertise of meteorological services, disseminate knowledge on the development and utilization of climate resources, with dedicated efforts to enhance agricultural climate adaptation capacity.<br/><br/>3)Third, in light of local developmental characteristics, provide meteorological science and technology and outreach services tailored to modern agriculture.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Regional Implementation Cases<br/><br/>Qinghai Province: During the annual caterpillar fungus harvest (April？May), mobile outreach teams visit alpine pastures and snow？covered areas to deliver lightning safety training to herders, schools and temples, resulting in a marked decline in lightning incidents, casualties and injuries in high？risk pastoral zones.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Mobile horseback lightning hazard response teams conduct on-site outreach for herder households.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Tuquan County, Inner Mongolia: In Taiping Township's Wusan Village, meteorological authorities teamed up with vegetable specialists from the Shandong Academy of Agricultural Sciences to provide on？site guidance for purple garlic farmers. The farmers praised the timely, practical advice, describing it as &quot;timely help,&quot; and expressed renewed confidence in boosting yields and incomes.<br/><br/><br/><br/>3. Fostering Youth Meteorological Literacy and Scientific Curiosity through School？based Outreach<br/><br/>These diverse and engaging school programmes have two aims: to equip primary and secondary students with practical knowledge for self？protection against weather hazards, and to expose them to China's latest scientific and technological advances, thereby nurturing patriotism, scientific curiosity and innovation. Provincial？level branded youth outreach activities have been rolled out across major regions:<br/><br/>？Guangdong Province: The Provincial Meteorological Service, together with the Provincial Department of Education and other partners, launched the &quot;Junior Meteorology Anchor&quot; competition.
