CMA actively conducts atmospheric science experiments targeting key synoptic processes and climate patterns. Based on large-scale mobile observation platforms, multiple types of remote sensing platforms, and fixed observation station networks, collaborative observation scientific experiments have been carried out, which focus on the generation environment of typhoons, heavy rainfall, hail, tornadoes, and lightning, multi-scale, fine structure, and the generation mechanism of extreme weather events. Meanwhile, CMA strengthens the construction of meteorological observation platforms for coastal areas and deep sea in the Asia-India-Pacific region. And coordinated observation of land and ocean in the monsoon area as well as the "Asia-Australia-Africa" monsoon scientific experiment have been performed. In addition, comprehensive observation experiments on the atmospheric water cycle and its impact in key areas of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau have been conducted. Centered on the impact of non-uniform underlying surfaces such as terrain and cities on the boundary layer, precipitation, and fog/haze, CMA also takes comprehensive observation scientific experiments and researches on the coupling mechanism of human-earth-atmosphere around.
