General Features

Favourites

Favourites allow you to manage a list of systems which you regularly compare or keep track of.

To manage favourites -

Login

Click on Favourites

Search for the system you want to add

Selecting the system from the search results will add the system to your favourites

The favourites page displays all the systems in your favourites on a map and table.

Note

The systems are ordered by distance from your own system. Systems further than 1,000km are not shown. To display all favourites, click on the Name column to order systems alphabetically.

The following actions can be performed on each the listed favourites -

Click on system checkbox or row to select the system.

Below the map click on -

Compare Selected to compare your system daily outputs against the selected system.

Live Compare Selected to compare your system live output against the selected system.

Deleted Selected to remove the selected favourites from your list.

Photos

The photo feature allows you to link one or more photos of your system.

Adding Photos

Login and open the System Editor

Goto the Photos section at the bottom of the page

The Photos section contains the following fields -

Image URL - The web address of the image you wish to add. It must begin with ‘https’ and end with a valid image extension such as ‘JPG’, ‘JPEG’, ‘GIF’ or ‘PNG’.

Description - The description will appear as the image caption when it is displayed.

To add more photos, click on Add More Photos, an additional Image URL and Description field will appear.

Note that you will need to upload your image to a server on the internet and reference the link in your URL. The following is a list of free Image Hosts

Click on Save to save the photos to your system profile.

Removing Photos

To remove any system photo, open the system editor and completly remove the Image URL then click on ‘Save’

Viewing Photos

A Photos link will appear below the system daily graph when it has one or more photos. Systems with available photos are shown on the PV Ladder. Use the Photos Only filter to only list systems with a photo.

Restrictions and Limitations

Photos with a file size larger than 400kb will not be processed.

Photos with a width or height greater than 2000 pixels will not be processed.

Weather

Australian based systems may assign a Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) weather station to their system.

Systems that have assigned a weather station will have their daily temperature range automatically updated.

Login and open the System Editor

Select the Weather Station from the dropdown

Save your system details

When adding or editing an output via the Add Output page, leave the temperature range fields blank to allow the system to update these fields.

Weather Conditions

Weather conditions appear on the daily outputs. It is used to subjectively describe the weather on a particular day.

The six possible conditions are listed below -

Fine

Partly Cloudy

Mostly Cloudy

Cloudy

Showers

Snow

Condition Calculation

The weather condition is automatically updated throughout the day for live systems that use the Add Status and Add Batch Status API. It is based on system efficiency (kWh/kW) or the amount of energy generated divided by the system size.

The time of the day also affects the calculation. The following rules are applied by the end of the day.

Greater than 5.0kWh/kW - Fine

4.0 to 5.0 - Partly Cloudy

2.5 to 4.0 - Mostly Cloudy

1.0 to 2.5 - Cloudy

0.0 to 1.0 - Showers

If the system has Estimated output data the conditions calculations are based on the percentage of the estimated output -

Greater than 90% - Fine

60% to 90% - Partly Cloudy

40% to 60% - Mostly Cloudy

20% to 40% - Cloudy

Less than 20% - Showers

When a system produces 90% or more output than the daily estimate, the condition assigned would be ‘Fine’. This gives the flexibility to handle seasonal variations in output for individual systems.

Estimates

The estimation feature can be used to visually compare actual energy production of a system against expected production.

Entering estimates will also enable the Target Bar indicator.

Adding Estimates

Login and open the System Editor

Click on Edit Estimates

Enter the estimated output of your system for each month of the year

Save your estimates

Graphing Estimates

To display the estimate vs actual production of a system -

Navigate to the Weekly, Monthly or Yearly page of the system

Click on Customise

Select Detailed from the Display dropdown

Select Generation from the Estimates dropdown

Click Update

The Estimate Out column shows the estimated amount for that period. When only partial data is available for the period, a pro-rata estimate amount is shown based on the number of available output days.

Hover the mouse over the date/period and estimate value to show the number of days and pro-rata percentage.

The Target column shows how actual production has compared against estimated production. A percentage value above 100% indicates the system is performing above estimates.

Target Bar

The generation target bar provides a quick visual overview of system output performance against estimated performance for the current day or month.

The bar is present when the system owner has entered monthly generation Estimates.

Intraday

The target bar on the intraday page shows current live energy generation against the daily estimated generation.

Initially the bar will empty at the start of the day. It will gradually fill up as energy is generated by the system. A system that has under performed will have a partially filled bar by sunset.

Your Outputs

The target bar on the daily page shows cumulative energy generation for the current month against the total estimated monthly generation.

Initially the bar will empty at the start of the month. A system that has under performed will have a partially filled bar by month end.

Weekly, Monthly and Yearly

The target bar on the aggregate pages shows cumulative energy generation for the current year against the total estimated yearly generation.

Initially the bar will empty at the start of the year. A system that has under performed will have a partially filled bar by year end.

Elapsed Bar

Click on the Target Bar on Your Outputs to switch to the Elapsed Bar view.

This bar calculates your current output for the month against the elapsed portion of your estimated output.

For example, if your estimate is 100kWh for the month and it is half way through the month, then your ‘Elapsed Estimate’ is 50kWh.

If your current generation is 60kWh, then the target bar calculation is 60/50 = 120% - then you will see a full bar, meaning you are on/over target for the current month.

Blocklists

Blocklists allow you to manage a list of systems which you can individually filter out on various views.

To manage blocklists -

Login

Click on Favourites

Click on Blocklist below the map

Search for the system you want to block

Selecting the system from the search results will add the system to your blocklist

Note

The blocklist page displays all the systems in your blocklist on a map and table. The systems are ordered by distance from your own system. Systems further than 1,000km are not shown.

To display all blocked systems, click on the Name column to order systems alphabetically.

Transfers

A system and its output data may be transferred from one account to another.

The transfer is a two step process involving the current owner requesting a transfer. This request will need to be approved by the new owner to successfully complete the transfer.

To transfer a system to another account -

Login and open the System Editor

Goto the Advanced Settings section

In Transfer Ownership, enter the username or email address of the account to transfer to

The account holder will be notified via email of the system transfer request. The email will contain a link to complete the transfer.

Pending transfer requests are shown under the Registered Systems of the transferee. Clicking on Accept will complete the transfer.

Upon successfully transferring the system, the new owner will be able to see the system in their Your Outputs and assume ownership of the system.

Restrictions and Limitations

A transfer request will expire if not completed within 5 days

A pending transfer can be cancelled by the current owner at any time

The username or email must be an existing PVOutput account

The transfer destination account requires an active donation

The new owner cannot exceed the maximum system limits for their account

Split Array

A secondary array can be added to describe systems with two arrays, each with a different orientation, tilt and size.

To setup a secondary array -

Login and open the System Editor

Select Yes from Secondary Array dropdown

Additional fields are shown for the second array

Configure the Number of Panels, Max Panel Power, Orientation, Azimuth and Array Tilt

Note

The size of the secondary array is added to the existing system size. The original number of Number of Panels, Max Panel Power will need to be adjusted to correct the total system size.

Default System

In a multiple system setup, the default system is the system that will be shown first on the Your Outputs page.

The default system is indicated under the status column of the list of Registered Systems on the Accounts page.

To change the default system -

Login

Click on Settings

Goto the Registered Systems section at the bottom of the page

Check the box next to the system to assign as the default system.

Click Save
