Live Data

Live data collection supports 5 minute updates. Data upload is automated using the PVOutput Auto Uploader, Integration Service or Contributed Software using the Add Status API.

Data can also be manually added with the Live Loader.

Browsing

The Live output listing shows an overview of all the live systems for the current day ordered by total energy generation. The times displayed on this page are in the systems’ local time.

Online Indicators

The following indicators appear under the Online column.

► The system is currently active and has sent an update in the last 15 minutes.

► The system is idle and has not been updated in the last 15 minutes.

▲ The system has moved up by the number of positions compared to the previous day.

▼ The system has moved down by the number of positions compared to the previous day.

NEW The system has just entered the top 300.

Data Indicators

The following indicators appear under the ●●●● column.

● The system has solar generation data.

● The system has consumption data.

● The system has temperature data.

● The system has voltage data.

Hover over the individual system indicators to show the latest values

Rankings

The rankings are maintained and shown when the list is ordered by Energy or Efficiency. The ranking movements are only shown for the top 180 systems in the ordered category.

After the 5th page the movement indicators are no longer shown.

Search

The search function will return any matching systems currently on the list.

Type in a past date in dd/mm/yy format to display live systems recorded on that date.

Filters

Filtering is available on the list after logging in. Open the filter popup by clicking on the Filter button on the top right hand corner of the list.

The filter preferences are automatically saved.

Configuration

The Live Settings are configured for each system and affect 5-minute data uploaded via the API and the PVOutput Auto Uploader service.

Status Interval

The status interval determines how often a system will report its live data. It is the time interval between each data point on the Live Page.

There are three possible intervals -

5 minutes (Default)

10 minutes

15 minutes

Update the status interval value via the system editor -

Login and open the System Editor

Select the Status Interval from the dropdown

Save system details

Note

Time data is rounded to the nearest interval set by the system. For a system using a 5-minute status interval uploads via the Add Status and Add Batch Status services with timestamp 09:58, 09:59, 10:00, 10:01, 10:02 will be adjusted to 10:00.

Timezone

The timezone should be set to the appropriate zone at the system location.

Note

The system timezone setting affects various aspects of the system such as Insolation and Automatic Uploads.

Valid timezones are listed below and support daylight savings where applicable.

Adjust Time

The time adjust configuration is used to adjust time values uploaded via the API. It should be used if the uploading device is unable to adjust its time during daylight savings.

This setting affects the time data in the following services -

Add Status

Add Batch Status

The following time adjustment settings are supported -

Daylight Savings - Adjust the time forward 1 hour during daylight savings for the configured timezone

Note

The Solar option indicates the adjustment will only apply to generation data. If an upload does not contain solar data v1 or v2 then no time adjustment is made.

System Page

The live or intraday page displays both a graph and tabulated data of a live system in 5 to 15 minute intervals. The intraday page displays generation, consumption and net data.

Navigate to your live page via the following steps

Login

Click on Your Outputs

Click on Live under the graph or any one of the date links in the table

This will display the most recent live data for the system.

Views

Below the graph is the View Navigator, clicking on one of the squares will switch to that view. There are five views available -

■■■■■All - This view shows generation, consumption, temperature and voltage

■■■■■Generation - This view shows generation data only

■■■■■Consumption - This view shows consumption data only

■■■■■Net Data - This view shows Net Energy and Power

■■■■■Extended Data - This view is available when the system has Extended Data

Insolation

Insolation data shows the estimated live system output during a clear day. It is based on the following parameters -

Day of the year

System Latitude/Longitude

Array Tilt

Azimuth or Orientation

Timezone

Shade

Age

For systems with an exact location, the latitude and longitude of that location is used, otherwise the latitude and longitude of the system’s postcode/zipcode is used. For countries that do not have a postcode, a system location must be set.

See System Location on how to setup the system location.

System azimuth allows the orientation to be define in degrees from 0 to 360, otherwise the orientation direction will be converted into approximate angle equivalents. A precise azimuth and array tilt setting will increase insolation accuracy.

The timezone setting and day of the year affect the sunset and sunrise values taking into account daylight savings for that zone on that day.

Shading and age derates the overall system output result. Age is determined from the installation date and reduces output at 1% per year.

For systems with two arrays, insolation power will be shown for both arrays and total for the system. See Split Array on how to setup a secondary array.

Time of Use Bands

When a system has TOU periods defined, these can be shown on the graph by clicking on any blank area. The peak and shoulder periods are shaded and labeled in vertical gray bands. Unshaded areas are off peak.

Click on a blank area of the graph again to toggle off the bands.

Peak Output and Base Load

The record highlighted in Yellow indicates the peak output generation of the day.

The record highlighted in Red indicates the base power consumption of the day. This is the ‘Always On’ power consumption and is also shown as a red dashed line across the graph.

Downloading

Manual

To manually download single live date -

Login

Click on Your Outputs

Click on the Date link to view

On the live page, click Download link that appears below the graph.

Note

The download link only appears for the system owner.

Automated

Live data downloads of multiple dates and from other systems may be automated using the Get Status API.

Deleting

The live data deletion feature can remove individual 5-minute data or an entire day.

It is only available for the last 14 calendar days or last 90 days for donation enabled accounts.

Login

Click on Your Outputs

Click on Live under the graph or any one of the date links in the table

Note

Only live data is deleted, the corresponding daily output record is still present. Remove this separately on Your Outputs.

Delete All

Click Delete click under the graph.

Confirm that the entire day of live data will be deleted.

Delete Selection

Click on one or more rows on the table to select them. A maximum of 30 records may be selected at a time.

Click Delete under the graph.

Confirm that the selected data will be deleted.

The corresponding Extended Data at the selected times will also be deleted.

Tip

Shift click to select or deselect multiple records.
